Spring has sprung

March 31, 2010 / By Madame Dent / 1 comment

On the other side of the world to us, but clearly Madame Mitchell is not ready to let the warm weather go and face autumn. She has made these wonderful prints of her original ink and graphite artworks on tea-stained paper available through our little online shop Mitchell & Dent. Mind you, Madame Dent is just a little concerned about what kind of shampoo Madame Mitchell uses.

Piggy love

March 31, 2010 / By Mademoiselle Michelle / Make a comment

Here’s one for our dear friend Dan and anyone else with a soft spot for swine. The Lovi Pig is the brainchild of Finnish designer Anne Paso and is part of a series of adorable pop out postcards the receiver assembles themselves. We love them all but this little piggy has to be our favourite.

Impossible

March 31, 2010 / By Madame Dent / Make a comment

Wow. What a palaver. Reading the comments on 1854 (the blog of the British Journal of Photography), you’d think the Impossible Project had done the world a disservice releasing their new polaroid film this week. I say pish to all the whining naysayers who think the first batch isn’t up to scratch. Let’s look at the big picture (see what I did there) and rejoice. Film for our forgotten polaroid cameras! Oh joy of joys. And my, isn’t the packaging purty?

The small print

March 30, 2010 / By Madame Dent / 4 comments

A little bit of shameless self promotion here. Folks are getting excited about our affordable art for little nooks and light pockets. Even the lovely Earl and Jan from Poppytalk wrote a brilliant blog post on plagiarism and illustrated their case with a Copy Cat. Once sold, these limited edition letterpressed works will never be available again. Never. Ever. Not even if you ask nicely. Bunnies and ducks make a great alternative for chocolate this Easter.

Felt: good

March 28, 2010 / By Madame Dent / 1 comment

Felt flowers to gasp over, all meticulously hand sewn by Becci who lives in a yellow house in St Louis with a husband, a dog and a cat – two of whom don’t get along. You’ll just have to go visit her Dashing Etc shop and her blog to find out which two (hint: her husband isn’t one of them).

Doggone it

As you know, Mitchell & Dent are cat people, so we’re not too concerned if buying this Muttropolis play toy for your dog makes him look a little silly.

A pop up place

My dad used to say I live in books. With this one I actually could. If I were a tiny little mouse. And didn’t mind a draft. Or someone closing it and getting squished to bits. Thanks Present & Correct.

Ridiculous

March 24, 2010 / By Madame Dent / Make a comment

For jaded designers who have got too big for their boots, just look at this illustration from recent Canadian design graduate Jenny Kim. And her packaging. And her publication work. And her brand identity design. All ridiculously inspirational. Go Jenny.

A good egg

At school I always remember making chocolate shredded wheat nests for Easter, complete with those little pipe cleaner chickens. This student’s work is a little more polished. Nina Bruun is currently finishing her masters at the Danish School of Design. I bet she will get a gold star for this.
