What is going on? I thought winter was planning on packing up and going home soon but instead, what we’re getting is lovely for ducks. We’d quite like it if the weather would kindly progress to something more along the lines of the bottom row of this brand new Whether the Weather print by Mademoiselle Michelle (now available online from Mitchell & Dent). Let the sun shine in.

Due to popular demand, Madame Mitchell created a set of perfectly pretty prints like the illustrations on our Mitchell & Dent website. Inspired by high tea and spring time, they would be a welcome addition to anyone’s mantle. Doesn’t your cat drink from vintage teacups too?

I am a sad fan of Matte Stephens. The reason it has taken me so long to tell you what I love about him is because I’m a ditherer. I can barely choose from a menu without the fear of meal envy, so deciding which of his works to show is a near impossible task. By choosing one or two or three favourites means a few dozen more equally wonderful works are neglected. But then, in my quarantined snufflehead state last week I revisited my favourite film from childhood – Mon Oncle – and the decision was made. You’ll be delighted to know Matte Stephens artworks are available from Perth’s brand new Outré Gallery in William Street.

So, clogs are going to be big in the southern hemisphere this spring. How do I know? Because when I was home sick last week I watched daytime telly (inbetween whining and moaning and feeling terribly terribly terribly bored – not good at being sick, me). And Nicky Hilton, the font of all fashion knowledge (tee hee), said Chanel did a high-heeled clog and they were, like, the coolest thing evah. She may have meant something like this, but in my snot-laden head I imagined them to be more like these Swedish Hasbeens. Clearly, I’m so 2009.

Harry Rogers illustrated these screen-printed posters for the Australian airline Qantas in the 1950′s and they are ridiculously wonderful. Even more wonderful is that they are now available again, this time as limited edition giclee prints. I want the Singapore tiger, no – the Australian kangaroo, noooo – the Canadian moose, noooooo – the Pacific Islands sea turtle.

You can’t say Perth isn’t a creative little town. We’ve just heard tell that Otilee (who we blogged about earlier in the year) was also recognised in the International Photography Awards. She was awarded second place in the Advertising – Fashion Pro category for Altitude (above) and received an Honorable Mention in the Advertising – Beauty Pro category for Wire Me In (see it here on her blog). Too much talent in the one town, really. Congrats Otilee, you clever little chicken.

Ian and Erick Regnard from Tungsten are two of the loveliest Perth-based world-renowned French Mauritian photographer twins you’re ever likely to meet (and isn’t the world awash with Perth-based world-renowned French Mauritian photographer twins?!). We’re so thrilled to hear that they were recently named a finalist in the International Photography Awards 2010 International Photographer of the Year – that’s way more prestigious than a Gold Logie, don’t you know? Their image Waiting in Silence was selected from nearly 15,000 submissions from 103 countries to be in the running and they’re off to NYC in October to find out who the winner is. Read all about it on their blog. And go look at their work. It is breathtakingly good.

The mesdames Mitchell and Dent are known for being cat people, but my interests lie somewhere in the middle between cats and dogs… given a recent purchase of cute IKEA fluffy rats, I’m toying with the idea of trying to get used to the possibility, of maybe, perhaps, purchasing a pair of real rats for my near 6 year old, when she is 7. Possibly. I have a year and 31 days to consider this. In the meantime, with rats in mind, I did find this picture of a French bulldog rather cute…
