As you know, we here at Mitchell & Dent like our cats. You can see them on our website and look left, they are are even in our crest. As much as we like our cats, we think that Pippy and Timmy‘s owner might like cats even more than we do. See what happens when you get an incredible photographer and two kitkats in the one space together. This is just a teeny sample.

Due to popular demand, Madame Mitchell created a set of perfectly pretty prints like the illustrations on our Mitchell & Dent website. Inspired by high tea and spring time, they would be a welcome addition to anyone’s mantle. Doesn’t your cat drink from vintage teacups too?

Marisol Spoon are a mister and missus living in NYC. I’m surprised. With the fairytale sweetness of their wonderful work, I was certain they lived in a gingerbread cottage in the misty mountains, surrounded by frolicking foxes and cavorting kittens, dining on strawberries and drinking dandelion wine.

Getting up this morning I felt like Dr Foster who went to Gloucester in a shower of rain. Walking out my front door, my muddle was definitely in danger of getting a little soggy. This is not a smooth segue, but what about this great picture book of another children’s rhyme ‘There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly’? Mutt Ink, you sure do brighten a dull day (see what I did there, it all comes good in the end).

A little bit of shameless self promotion here. Folks are getting excited about our affordable art for little nooks and light pockets. Even the lovely Earl and Jan fromĀ Poppytalk wrote a brilliant blog post on plagiarismĀ and illustrated their case with a Copy Cat. Once sold, these limited edition letterpressed works will never be available again. Never. Ever. Not even if you ask nicely. Bunnies and ducks make a great alternative for chocolate this Easter.

While we’re stuck on cute here at Mitchell & Dent, can we get any cuter than these animal pillows from Pennsylvania’s Vintage Jane? Almost more exciting than the illustration is the chenille backing. Chenille, oh forgotten fabric from days of yore, how we missed you. Did you know ‘chenille’ is ‘caterpillar’ in French? Would we lie to you?

Burnese-born English illustrator Nila Aye‘s work is so sweet it might give you cavities, but I think I have discovered Nila’s naughty side. Find her Flickr photostream and one of the funniest illustrations about boob jobs I’ve ever seen. Not that I’ve seen a lot of illustrations about boob jobs. Boobs. It is a funny word, isn’t it? I’m sorry Nila, I didn’t mean for this post to descend into smuttiness.

Mitchell & Dent heartily recommend you purchase your most important paper procurements from cat people like themselves. Dog people simply want to be loved, whereas cat people know how to serve. And if you’re an incredibly talented mid century illustrator like Bernice Myers, please indulge us with more pictures of cats. Then Eric Sturdevant from Virginia can post more pictures on his illustration blog Fun All Around and we’ll all be purring with contentment.

Olivia Bolles‘ sweet photography has captured our hearts. We adore the way she plays with light and are mighty impressed by her storytelling ability. It’s hard to believe she’s only 15 years old. What a bright spark.
