Mesdames Mitchell & Dent are very fond of a fiesta, a shindig, a soirée – even a sundowner. And whilst we disapprove of being invited by text, we don’t think every bash warrants bespoke letterpress stationery. DIY can be most delightful, so here’s some we prepared earlier… lovely invitations in little packs of 8, envelopes all included. Perfect for children’s birthdays, high teas, dinner parties and baby showers. You can find them at the Studio Bomba Shop.

(And to the lovely gal who popped in to see us on Sunday and to who I promised a blog post, apologies for my tardiness!)

Open Thursday to Sunday, 10:30am to 6ish

A lovely time

June 30, 2011 / By The Mesdames / Make a comment

I can be really grumpy about the city. The roadworks make me grumpy. The fact that I need to take out a loan to pay for parking makes me grumpy. The black and grey-suited terrace people make me grumpy (since when is wearing colour a sin?). Leaving half an hour early to account for rainy-day peak-hour traffic and getting there in eight minutes makes me grumpy. Thank goodness for the glory of Venn, home to warm coffee and sellers of this cosy clock, for making me less grumpy. Quite chipper in fact.

Five o’clock

February 2, 2011 / By The Mesdames / 5 comments

Madame Mitchell works very hard, she is diligent in her daily duties. So much so that she often needs to be shooed from the studio at very late hours. She is definitely not a clock-watcher, but perhaps one set permanently to 5pm might help her get home on time, thankyou Misako Mimoko in Barcelona.

Madame Dent thinks it would be a good idea too – suddenly any hour of the day becomes cocktail hour.

It’s time

September 9, 2010 / By Madame Dent / 1 comment

For some reason, when our ‘minty’ Keren (a final year design student we mentor) is in, the iTunes shuffly thing decides to play non-stop 90s Brit-pop. It is embarrassing. There is only so much Oasis and Blur and Travis one can bear. Unless of course, it is Travis Price (smooth segue that, don’t you think?). We had the great fortune to meet Travis at Life InStyle and go gaga over his Mister Mista goodies for not-so-big boys. He’s much nicer than a Gallagher.

Watching time pass

August 24, 2010 / By Madame Dent / Make a comment

The thing that has always bugged me about clocks is how that little hand keeps spinning around, making it painfully clear that seconds are being counted down. It’s nerve-wracking. I don’t want a household appliance reminding me of my mortality. That’s why I like this clock. It is more relaxed. And pretty. Thanks Biegert & Funk for Qlocktwo. And because I don’t have a spare 800-odd Euros handy, I very much appreciate the iPhone app version.

On being late

June 6, 2010 / By Madame Dent / 2 comments

Madame Mitchell finds that fashionably late can easily turn into frightfully rude. But what to do if you’ve been unavoidably detained? Fifteen minutes tardiness requires a quick call with an apology and a promise to get there quick sticks, thirty minutes warrants a polite and pretty excuse, an hour’s lateness best be accompanied by trinkets to soothe tempers, and any longer demands a new clock (this lovely one is from Anthropologie) and more likely, new friends.

Madame Dent is none too concerned, she finds the fun doesn’t start until she gets there.

Timely

May 5, 2010 / By Madame Dent / 2 comments

What is going on? In an era where we have easy access to the time on our phones, our tellies, our ovens, our computers and our hi-fis, why on earth would we need to wear a watch? Because they are so darn pretty, lookie lookie… 1. Starck, 2. IDEA International, 3. Nixon, 4. Starck, 5. Mr Jones Watches, 6. Nooka, 7. Nixon, 8. LIP and 9. Denise Julie Reytan (oh, and one of these things is not like the others, gotta love a jeweller with a sense of humour).

Waking up with the birds

February 12, 2010 / By Mademoiselle Michelle / 1 comment

How cute is this? Watch the video to find out how to turn your ordinary iPhone into a delightful little BirdBox alarm clock. Waking up to the sound of birds is sure to turn even the most stubborn of night owls into a morning person. Thanks LuckyBits and thanks DesignSponge for finding it.
