Painter girl

We have tittle tattled about Miss Gem here before, but oh my, it was so nice to spend some time with her in Melbourne. We don’t know how Gemma Jones can possibly be just the one person, given all the creative wonderfulness she does. See her art here, her blogs here and here, her shop here, her day job here and her writing here. I suspect she doesn’t sleep. She can’t possibly. Or maybe her work-a-day has an extra hour in it?!

So, where did our guide Gem take us for the most perfect of days out in Melbourne? The Camberwell Sunday Market (be sure to ask Madame Mitchell just how many vintage dresses she bought), lunch at Seven Seeds, a cup of tea with Pip and Cam from Meet Me at Mike’s, a mooch about Gertrude Street and a dip into Lost and Found (former home of Ray Cook ramekins – more – later). Could life be any sweeter?

Thank you Gemma.

Cheeky coffee

February 10, 2010 / By Mademoiselle Michelle / Make a comment

An imp is a mischevious little creature who delights in luring unsuspecting folks into temptation. The Imp café in East Victoria Park certainly lives up to it’s name, tempting their patrons with all manner of tasty treats. The Mesdames simply adore their coffee and cakes (not to mention their cute little logo). You may even spot us there on a Sunday morning blotting out the memory of that last glass of gin with a hangover roll or a stack of pancakes with mixed berry butter (pictured above).

Making an exception

Lab Partners

Whilst Mitchell & Dent heartily recommend you purchase your most important paper procurements from cat people like themselves (because dog people just want to be loved, whereas cat people know how to serve), you may make an exception for lovely little dogs printed on paper. Especially for Monsieur Boudin, who can be found on greeting cards from England’s Lagom thanks to the ever delightful Lab Partners from San Francisco.
