These exquisite illustrations are the work of Martine Johanna. With a solo exhibition coming up in Amsterdam (*sigh*) and works featured in a ridiculous amount of publications, this girl has talent in bucket loads. I am very curious to know which illustrations featured in Playboy.

We recently met design student Miss Megan Isabella and had a nice cup of tea together, chitchatting about terribly important things like cats and Frankie magazine and paper dolls and, oh yes of course, design. We do get sidetracked at Mitchell & Dent. You however, you can cut straight to the point and see Megan’s winter portrait project by clicking here. There is no better way to support your up-and-coming illustrators.

Ever have the urge to curl up in the corner with a box of crayons and a colouring-in book, but think it’s only for little ones? Supermarket Sarah has just the thing with these Colour Me Good books, album sleeves and paper dolls. Made by Mel Elliot – and perfect for us (not so) grown-ups.

Two dogs, a goat and a monkey. You wouldn’t think they would get along, but in the marvellous medium of crayons Team Mitchell & Dent are actually dandelion, green-yellow and blue-grey and that is a damn nice colour palette. US-Vietnamese artist Diem Chau‘s delightful and delicate horoscope carvings are a testament to her steady hands and her blog is a testament to The Pleasure of Tiny Things.

This is what Mitchell & Dent think the perfect night out is all about. Pencils and pinot, drawing and dancing girls. Our quick sketches (top: Mademoiselle Michelle, middle: Madame Mitchell, bottom: Madame Dent) from the recent Dr Sketchy’s Anti Art School of the too too pretty kitty Brandy Savage, divine live model that she was, feathers and all.

Breath lessening? Eyes dilating? Warm glow spreading to your fingertips? Scribblers, doodlers and colour-inerers all, behold… Social Designer (US sellers of goods for the greater good) has a very good idea. 500 pencils, 25 pencils delivered to your door per month, 20 months. I like the look of lemon ghost, little red wagon, Hawaiian sky, Lucy, sea captain and silver sword. You?
