For pledges with parties

April 19, 2011 / By The Mesdames / 1 comment

Poor Tittle Tattle, we’ve been so neglectful. But it is only because we’re super busy planning something super exciting. We’ll spill the beans real soon, promise. In the meantime, we’ve been thinking frocks. As stationers, Mitchell & Dent gets to work with lovely brides a lot and have heard how frustrating it can be to find these kinds of frocks in Perth (if you have, do please share!). Folks find them on Etsy, but would you be brave enough to order in a frock from overseas unseen? Well if you are, these ones look pretty…

Harem scarum

May 27, 2010 / By Madame Dent / Make a comment

If the stereotypes are to be believed, then Transylvania is all about vampires and being scared witless. Not decorative dolls and drawings of dancing dogs and delightful birds on unicycles. And given that Mitchell & Dent are not exactly your stereotypical Australians (bah beer and football!), we’re thrilled to discover Romanian artists Harem6 and must apologise for being presumptuous. Mind you, I did always like the Count.

Chi chi chenille

April 25, 2010 / By Madame Dent / 4 comments

Oh chenille, forgotten fabric of the past, hello again. What have you been doing since the 1970′s? No matter. It is nice to see your sometimes-tufty, sometimes-taut textile-y self back all over bedspreads, dressing gowns and pillows like this one from The Pink Palace. You put the fancy into frou frou.

A neat little bow

April 22, 2010 / By Mademoiselle Michelle / Make a comment

Here at Mitchell & Dent we hold in high esteem the proper practices of societal intercourse. As such we are most pleased to see that bow-ties are well and truly back in style. They make even the scruffiest of sorts look dapper and, contrary to common belief, are a cinch to tie up.

No sweets please

I wouldn’t dare set down my slice of cake on one of these lovely doilies (it wouldn’t last long enough to set down anyway). In limited editions of 25, these hand stitched pieces will sell like little hotcakes.

Happy Easter

April 5, 2010 / By Madame Dent / 3 comments

I hope you have all had a wonderful Easter break. I know I certainly have. Four nana naps, enough chocolate to sink a battleship and internal giggles galore (thanks to Homer Simpson I can’t hear ‘Jesus’ without substituting ‘Jeebus’ in my head). The only thing that could have made it better is UK design studio Mibo‘s Yolk Folk. Awwww.

Stick it to me

April 4, 2010 / By Mademoiselle Michelle / 1 comment

I’m a sucker for stickers. My rather extensive childhood sticker collection included smelly stickers, fuzzy stickers, puffy stickers and a prized Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch sticker (which I still have). How much cooler would my collection have been if Yaelfran’s Stick Me books had been around then?  A collaborative effort featuring lots of lovely illustrations by the likes of Art and Ghosts, Cabin + Cub and Happy Doodle Land. Even the covers are made of stickers.

Felt: good

March 28, 2010 / By Madame Dent / 1 comment

Felt flowers to gasp over, all meticulously hand sewn by Becci who lives in a yellow house in St Louis with a husband, a dog and a cat – two of whom don’t get along. You’ll just have to go visit her Dashing Etc shop and her blog to find out which two (hint: her husband isn’t one of them).

Full circle

March 23, 2010 / By Madame Dent / Make a comment

It is one of those days where I am going round and round in circles and not getting much done, not even calling our landlady after our studio turned into a giant colander in yesterday’s storm. I need this circle of vintage maps and charts from London’s Bombus to show me where to go.

Rain, rain, go away

March 23, 2010 / By Mademoiselle Michelle / 1 comment

We’re feeling a little dented and soggy after the wild wild weather yesterday but are happy to see the sun starting to peep out from behind the rain clouds. Hope the rest of you Perthonalities are ok. Here’s a little extra sunshine in the form of cute artworks to help brighten your day.
