Goodness, there are some clever little retailers emerging on the Perthscape. You may remember the delightful Jess and Jayden from B&M Felt? They had a pop-up shop in Fremantle, but now the news we’ve been waiting for – a much more permanent flagship store has just opened. And in time for the jingle season too. Goodie.

For crafty folks who are nifty with a needle, you might get a little thrill out of Ume Craft‘s shop of patterns for felt plush. In the shape of foods. How funny is felt food? That, and William Shatner singing Cee Lo Green’s ‘Fuck You’.

I am sorely tempted to purchase a pair of these from Finnish folks Company. Missy Fliss Junior loves nothing better than to so see her Grandpa rock and roll at the local tavern on a Friday night and she bops around the dance floor with Mummy Miss Fliss. However, I do wonder if we can jive in them?

OK, OK, enough about Melbourne already. I promise this is our last post about our jaunt to the east. We spent a day at the overwhelmingly huge Life InStyle trade show and were amazed by the goodies available to people with shops. Almost enough to make us wish we had a shop. Geez Louise, Australians make some good things. And what really surprised us were the number of Perthonalities who travelled across to exhibit. See, we can do things other than dig stuff out of the ground in this state.
It was nice to catch up with our favourite felt folks Jess and Jayden from Bug and Megs. Have you been to their shop in Fremantle yet? You should.
Tú are a local fashion label and we loved seeing their Mary Lou for Tú jewellery range. Sweetness.
Antigone has her very own House of Antigone and combines her graphic design and photography skills to make art objects for the home.
I bet you know Freo-based jewellery designers Loop already. Danny Sheiner makes amazing things and has a new studio in Margaret River to boot.
Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette and Miranda Kerr wear Sophie Kyron jewellery and you can too. If you like crazy carved beaded over-the-topness.
Pure Linen are all about pure linen, oddly enough. Designed in Australia and made in Europe and Australia.
We’ve bought these Mattiske map bangles and never knew they were designed and manufactured by Perth’s Sharra Art. Well, whatdoyaknow?
Of course, Pigeonhole. The one-stop-shop (well, four little shops and an online store now) for cute and quirky. So much goodness.

Goodness gracious me. This multicoloured rug by Krita is made of dozens and dozens of little felted wool balls. Amazing, but it still looks like a giant freckle to me.

Felt flowers to gasp over, all meticulously hand sewn by Becci who lives in a yellow house in St Louis with a husband, a dog and a cat – two of whom don’t get along. You’ll just have to go visit her Dashing Etc shop and her blog to find out which two (hint: her husband isn’t one of them).

Well done Custard Cream. In a biscuit-related poll, you’ve been named number one by the Brits. You must be mighty chuffed, but I bet your friend the Jammy Dodger is a bit miffed. It’s OK. He can be comforted by the Iced Gems, not to mention the Blackpool Rock and Spotted Dick. Not those Strawberries and Cream though, they’ve got tickets on themselves, all that time spent in the royal box at Wimbledon. Bet they wouldn’t help a biscuit when it’s down.

We would definitely have two serves a day of this kind of fruit. Crafted from recycled fabric and individually hand-stamped, these little plush toys for grownups are created by La Pomme in the south of France. Delicious.

Rightio then. Get out your scissors (no running, mind you), your thread, your needles and pins. The Purl Bee, a wonderful crafty blog from the folks at Purl Soho in the US, have posted this winter white felt flower wreath lesson for us. Sure beats algebra.
