Everything’s rosy

August 19, 2010 / By The Mesdames / 2 comments

Inspired by Laura Ashley dresses of the 80s, John Laflin’s Liberty of London florals and 90s ‘It’ girl Plum Sykes – we spent an unreasonably long time creating Mitchell & Dent‘s very own pretty little tea rose print. It comes in five different colour palettes which can be used separately or mixed and matched. Perfect for garden celebrations in the sunshine and high teas on terraces, why not take a closer peek at the Luella wedding stationery suite on the website, in our newest catalogue or by ordering a sample pack?

Made just for you, yes you

August 13, 2010 / By The Mesdames / Make a comment

If like Mitchell & Dent; you live for sweet-scented blooms in vintage cut-glass vases, silk-embroidered shawls with impossibly long fringing, sugarcakes and cups of black tea in pretty china over crocheted cotton doilies, then Vintage Floral is the wedding suite we made just for you. You might be a niche market, but we don’t care! And besides Vintage Floral is open to other options. She would be equally as happy announcing a high tea or a baby shower. Just don’t expect her to slap on a pair of snakeskin boots and rock out with the boys.

Blooming lovely

July 16, 2010 / By Madame Dent / Make a comment

Mitchell & Dent were faced with a dilemma recently. The lovely Luann, maker of the most divine arrangements, left our florist of choice and in her wake, so did our loyal patronage. We’ve been experimenting with new florists for a few months to no avail. Then we heard tell of Rebecca Grace and her studio Natural Art. So blooming lovely and with the most easy peasy of online ordering systems.

Dresses to drink tea in

May 29, 2010 / By Madame Dent / 4 comments

I have been coveting these cute frocks by Sohomode for the past six months. The only thing that has stopped me ordering a custom tea dress is the dilemma of deciding which fabric (visit the library, you’ll see what I mean). I also wondered how it might look on a gal like me, who has not only kept her girlish figure but added to it. Then the lovely Lilli from Frocks and Frou Frou, the best fashion blog for curvy gals, showed me. Sohomode, here I come.

Spring has sprung

March 31, 2010 / By Madame Dent / 1 comment

On the other side of the world to us, but clearly Madame Mitchell is not ready to let the warm weather go and face autumn. She has made these wonderful prints of her original ink and graphite artworks on tea-stained paper available through our little online shop Mitchell & Dent. Mind you, Madame Dent is just a little concerned about what kind of shampoo Madame Mitchell uses.

Felt: good

March 28, 2010 / By Madame Dent / 1 comment

Felt flowers to gasp over, all meticulously hand sewn by Becci who lives in a yellow house in St Louis with a husband, a dog and a cat – two of whom don’t get along. You’ll just have to go visit her Dashing Etc shop and her blog to find out which two (hint: her husband isn’t one of them).

Picture books

March 11, 2010 / By Madame Mitchell / Make a comment

Sheffield lass Su Blackwell knows how to create pictures with words. These miniature dioramas are delicately formed from old books carefully sourced from second-hand bookstores. These sculptures are like pop-up picture books for adults. No touching.

Joy oh joy

February 12, 2010 / By Madame Dent / Make a comment

Where to start? We very much doubt that dedicated perusers of web logs (as the Mesdames most undoubtedly are) will be unfamiliar with the work of Joy Cho. She is the founding designer of Oh Joy Studio, producer of the Nantaka Joy stationery range, Oh Joy blogger extraordinaire (30,000 visitors daily!) and the foodie behind Happy Lady Eats.  If you want more Joy in your life (and who doesn’t?), thanks to Joy on Twitter we’ve found Joy on Flickr and her personal collection of whimsical ceramics. Did you notice she is also a dab hand at floristry (seriously, who finds Geraldton Wax in Philadelphia)? Is there nothing this girl can’t do?
