Yes, we are most definitely big fans of Bethamy Linton and her work. Mitchell & Dent spent a delightful day out at yesterday’s Wedding Upmarket right next door to Bethamy, chitchatting away, sharing cupcakes, gazing at glorious views, oh – and showing our wares to peeps planning weddings. Bethamy is a fourth generation silversmith who has a studio in the Swan Valley and while all of her work is something special, we were blown away by her silver and lace fans (boom tish).

Froth and nonsense
April 19, 2011 / By The Mesdames

Poor Tittle Tattle, we’ve been so neglectful. But it is only because we’re super busy planning something super exciting. We’ll spill the beans real soon, promise. In the meantime, we’ve been thinking frocks. As stationers, Mitchell & Dent gets to work with lovely brides a lot and have heard how frustrating it can be to find these kinds of frocks in Perth (if you have, do please share!). Folks find them on Etsy, but would you be brave enough to order in a frock from overseas unseen? Well if you are, these ones look pretty…

M&D’s M&Ds

Should you have heard high-pitched girlie squeals of delight this afternoon, the kind that curls toes and causes puppies to cower in fear, then we’ll take the blame. But we have a damn good excuse. We discovered Her Handpicked Harvest online. AND they are from Perth. They are the go-to folks for fine vintage collectibles and curios, all available for hire for celebrations such as I-do’s and I-don’t-want-to-turn-[insert age here]‘s.

We know a girl who just gave her notice in order to spend more time getting noticed for what she does best. You too can be noticed in notable vintage from The Vintage Valley. Congrats and good luck Ally.

Ann-Marie moved to Pennsylvania where antique stores abound, so she decided to stop making skin tight garments covered in cheap lace and instead make beautiful wearable vintage-inspired dresses, shirts and skirts for going on adventures in. So glad she did.

If you, like Mitchell & Dent, think there is a distinct lack of chiffon in cocktail dresses of late and worry that a Hervé Léger frock won’t look quite so flattering after your fourth bellini, try Beverly Hill’s Timeless Vixen Vintage. Wonderfully ridiculous silk and tulle and lace concoctions from days of yore when necklines were made for jewellery and skirts were made for dancing.

Renee Blake is a local gal after our own hearts. Her love of op shopping, vintage fabrics and retro patterns has led to the creation of the beautiful label My Girl Gwendoline. Madame Mitchell couldn’t help purchasing a lovely seersucker dress complete with a vintage doily neckline. Visit her blog to see where she will next be selling her lovely garments.
