Mitchell & Dent's Tittle Tattle

I think you know by now that when we go all quiet on the tittle tattle front, it means that Mitchell & Dent are making things. Big things. And this one’s a doozy. So, you know Mitchell & Dent is a Studio Bomba initiative right? Studio Bomba is the little design engine that drives all of the things we do – things like M&D, First Comes Love Bridal Fair and our work for other people’s brands too.

Well, now there is a Studio Bomba Shop. A bricks and mortar shop in Oxford Street that peddles stationery, artwares and designery knick-knacks. You can come see the Mitchell & Dent stationery (without having to make an appointment) and lots of local and overseas deliciousness that only the Bomba shop stocks. We think it is worth a visit (but we might be biased).

It is a collective of very clever letterpress stationers from the USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia and is an initiative of the extraordinarily lovely Valerie and Jim from Spark (first comes love and then comes letterpress). The most exciting news. Mitchell & Dent are both brand new aunties and in the past twenty four hours too, due to a crazy turn of events. We’re so thrilled for our sisters and their partners and can’t wait to spend time cuddling Mademoiselle Georgia Mae and Master Austin, who are undoubtedly the most beautiful two babies we have ever seen.

Yes. You can get letterpress wedding invitations in Perth, thanks for asking. And Mitchell & Dent‘s lovely old 1905 Chandler and Price platen press, affectionately dubbed ‘Herbert’, especially likes to print the Cameo wedding stationery suite. He thinks the elegant typefaces, fancy flourishes and ornaments, and sweet little customisable cameos are most befitting the vintage printing technique of letterpress. Meet Mayfair – Mitchell & Dent‘s hardest working wedding suite design. Mayfair can be printed or letterpressed (or both, perhaps a letterpressed invitation with printed accompanying stationery?). Mayfair looks lovely on kraft or our super-thick and squishy white cotton paper stock. Mayfair looks lovely in a whole host of colours. My goodness, we have a lot to tittle tattle about. Mitchell & Dent have just returned from a little jetsetting jaunt over to the eastern side of the country, but before we launch into our musings about Melbourne, we want to show you something. In our absence, the too too clever Angela Higgins delivered her incredible images of the new Mitchell & Dent wedding stationery. We must also thank the lovely Fiona from Antiquitea for lending us a little of her vintage china for the shoot and you can’t top Leederville’s François for mouth-watering macaroons.

Madame Mitchell does not approve of glitter and gaudiness and simply cannot abide an unattractive wedding invitation, so Mitchell & Dent has been beavering away to make pretty with paper. Here is your first peek at the results – the letterpressed Ampersand wedding stationery suite.
