Studio Bomba ShopStudio Bomba ShopStudio Bomba Shop

I think you know by now that when we go all quiet on the tittle tattle front, it means that Mitchell & Dent are making things. Big things. And this one’s a doozy. So, you know Mitchell & Dent is a Studio Bomba initiative right? Studio Bomba is the little design engine that drives all of the things we do – things like M&D, First Comes Love Bridal Fair and our work for other people’s brands too.

Well, now there is a Studio Bomba Shop. A bricks and mortar shop in Oxford Street that peddles stationery, artwares and designery knick-knacks. You can come see the Mitchell & Dent stationery (without having to make an appointment) and lots of local and overseas deliciousness that only the Bomba shop stocks. We think it is worth a visit (but we might be biased).

Oh, and by the way, how lovely are these images by our studio-mate Nic Montagu?

You are invited

Mesdames Mitchell & Dent are very fond of a fiesta, a shindig, a soirée – even a sundowner. And whilst we disapprove of being invited by text, we don’t think every bash warrants bespoke letterpress stationery. DIY can be most delightful, so here’s some we prepared earlier… lovely invitations in little packs of 8, envelopes all included. Perfect for children’s birthdays, high teas, dinner parties and baby showers. You can find them at the Studio Bomba Shop.

(And to the lovely gal who popped in to see us on Sunday and to who I promised a blog post, apologies for my tardiness!)

First Comes Love

May 22, 2011 / By The Mesdames / Make a comment

And then comes marriage. In case you missed our none-too-subtle plugs in the last post, Mitchell & Dent are making First Comes Love – an alternative little bridal fair here in Perth. We’re excited and anxious and in awe of the amazing folks taking part. We’re just mentioning it again because we’ve made a Facebook page and if you know anyone planning on getting hitched and looking for wedding wonderfulness in Perth, you’re welcome to go right ahead and invite them to the event. Off you pop now.

M&D’s M&Ds

May 19, 2011 / By The Mesdames / 3 comments

So, there’s this BIG THING we’ve been working on. It is called First Comes Love (and then comes marriage) and it is an alternative bridal fair and we’re making it from scratch. It is on June 18 and 19, upstairs at the Oxford Hotel in Leederville. It all came about because we took Mitchell & Dent to a big brash bridal fair last year and felt a little like fish-out-of-water. I don’t think what we do aligns too well with stretch Hummers and teeth-whitening and Swarovski-encrusted fishtaily dresses. So we thought we’d plan something smaller, sweeter and sassier with some of the incredibly creative folks we’ve had the pleasure of meeting through our stationery work. We’re all ganging up to show WA the goodness. Will you come?

And when the M&D team started talking vintage party frocks to make pledges in, it sounded like our mums all wore identical gowns. Maybe not quite on closer inspection, but just look at our mums and dads getting hitched. They’re all so shiny and happy (of course, they hadn’t had us yet). See if you can choose whose M&D is whose?

For yummy mummies

May 6, 2011 / By The Mesdames / 1 comment

We’re a little late. OK, we’re a lot late. There is no time at all to pop in to the Mitchell & Dent studio or the little online shop and pick up one of these cards for your yummy mummy before Sunday. Besides, we’re not really sure a piece of paper, no matter how lovely Madame Mitchell’s illustrations are, cuts it anyway – surely the woman who squeezed you out of her nether regions, tied your shoelaces, kissed away those falling-off-the-bicycle tears, replaced your dead goldfish/guineapig/hermitcrab so you wouldn’t be upset, helped you with your homework even though she had no clue, kept quiet about how much she hated that boyfriend with the tattoos, snuck you extra cash when your first job earned you a pittance – surely she deserves an actual cup of tea and a chitchat. Happy Mothers Day, M&D mums!

Lions and tigers and bears

April 7, 2011 / By The Mesdames / 2 comments

Oh my. Here are Mitchell & Dent‘s brand new greeting cards, available right now in our little online shop. We think there is no nicer way to say hello than with a dapper monocle-wearing tiger or the Tara Banks of the animal world in lion form (“You’re fierce”) or a chubby little balloon-wielding bear encouraging you to hug it out.

What goes on tour

January 25, 2011 / By The Mesdames / 2 comments

So exciting, our mesdames Angela Mitchell and Leah Dent were invited by Lomography Australia / New Zealand to contribute to a leg of the Diana World Tour 2011. We may have given you a sneak peek, do you remember? Along with inspirational artists including friends and faves such as Gemma Jones, Beci Orpin, Cat-RabbitGhostpatrol and Eveline Tarunadjaja to name a few, our bunnycam will be one of 25 shown in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland as part of the Customised Clones Exhibition. Importantly – and listen up now  – they will all be auctioned online to raise funds for See Through Me and World Child Cancer. Bidding starts February 3rd, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.

The Pressroom and Co

January 17, 2011 / By The Mesdames / 2 comments

Hear all about it! Hear all about it! Exciting news! Mitchell & Dent is now a part of The Pressroom and Co in the US. What is The Pressroom and Co? It is a collective of very clever letterpress stationers from the USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia and is an initiative of the extraordinarily lovely Valerie and Jim from Spark (first comes love and then comes letterpress). So, for folks across the pond who have been coveting our designs but have been hampered by the exchange rate and non-US-standard sizes, why not order through The Pressroom and Co? Off you pop now poppets.

The silly season

December 24, 2010 / By Madame Dent / Make a comment

Well, we’re pooped. It is past midnight and Mademoiselle Michelle is finally finishing off her last website for the year, Madame Mitchell is emptying her inbox and this is indeed the last post for a wee while. Even Little Miss Fliss is telling us to go home via Facebook. Only Mister Clifford is tucked up safe in bed (we think). We do love our work but are looking forward to taking a wee break.

We wish you all wonder and joy, good times drinking good wine with good people and the happiest of holidays from M&D. Cheers!

Be-hold

November 23, 2010 / By The Mesdames / 4 comments

The mesdames do occasionally step away from the letterpress and explore other media. If you were wondering what type of things Mitchell & Dent have to show at this weekend’s SODA Gift 2010 exhibition, here is a little sneaky peek of one of Leah Dent’s acrylic on ply paintings. And there’s more where that came from. You’ll just have to come visit – details in the post before last.
