Camilla d'Errico

Camilla D’Errico is a girl after my own heart, a night owl with a penchant for manga, anime and Hello Kitty. She also makes wonderfully whimsical paintings and has an online shop full to the brim with pretty prints and products.

Be-hold

The mesdames do occasionally step away from the letterpress and explore other media. If you were wondering what type of things Mitchell & Dent have to show at this weekend’s SODA Gift 2010 exhibition, here is a little sneaky peek of one of Leah Dent’s acrylic on ply paintings. And there’s more where that came from. You’ll just have to come visit – details in the post before last.

Mad

English artist James Paterson makes me really really angry. He may well be a very lovely man, but he can paint like this and I can’t.

Madame loves Monsieur

August 31, 2010 / By Madame Dent / Make a comment

I am a sad fan of Matte Stephens. The reason it has taken me so long to tell you what I love about him is because I’m a ditherer. I can barely choose from a menu without the fear of meal envy, so deciding which of his works to show is a near impossible task. By choosing one or two or three favourites means a few dozen more equally wonderful works are neglected. But then, in my quarantined snufflehead state last week I revisited my favourite film from childhood – Mon Oncle – and the decision was made. You’ll be delighted to know Matte Stephens artworks are available from Perth’s brand new Outré Gallery in William Street.

Enchanted, I’m sure

Marisol Spoon are a mister and missus living in NYC. I’m surprised. With the fairytale sweetness of their wonderful work, I was certain they lived in a gingerbread cottage in the misty mountains, surrounded by frolicking foxes and cavorting kittens, dining on strawberries and drinking dandelion wine.

Sign of the oldy timey times

April 11, 2010 / By Madame Dent / Make a comment

[Insert whiny voice here] I want a hand-lettered sign from Three Potato Four. And I would also be eternally grateful if anyone who can tell me the name of a cringe-worthy zombie film I vaguely remember seeing at band camp (yes I was a high school arts geek, not much has changed). The zombies were bushy-browed, turtleneck-wearing sea captains. Of course, I never did have a good memory.

In the stars

Katie Daisy, besides having the cutest name ever, is a clever illustrator and typographer from Minneapolis. Madame Dent is off to gaze at stars at the Perth Observatory, so this print is just jim-dandy for that.
