No, not The Hills, the Perth hills. The shady-sweet eucalypt-smelling Perth hills. Not a boob job or a statement handbag in sight, but there is cute shoes in common between the two – in the work of hills girl Moira Court. She is an incredible illustrator and maker that we’ve not yet had the pleasure of meeting, but her art does adorn an M&D wall. Our bear wears a crown.

First Comes Love is done and dusted and we’re back to our everyday design lives, part of which means checking in on blogs we’ve neglected (it’s called research, honest). Two things for you today – let’s start with Scout’s Honor Co. – a lovely designer-stationer with a lovely studio in Vermont and a lovely blog. You’ll love it. Also, a great find of Annemarie’s – General’s Charcoal White pencils which look just like chalk on a blackboard. So, if like us, you’re a little daunted of the endless possibilities of a blank white piece of paper (we choose kraft), they’re a nice option.

The mesdames and their Macs are pals, but it is good to get a pencil out whenever possible. Madame Dent’s pencil of choice is a wooden Supply Co. ‘Very Best’ mechanical pencil with a 0.5mm 2B lead. So is Madame Mitchell’s. Mademoiselle Michelle opts for a Staedtler 3B and Mister Clifford favours an all natural Derwent Drawing 2B (no varnish or paint so bits don’t flake off in his mouth). What about you?
We also like this selection of pencil-related apparel, including Ashi Dashi Pencil Knee Highs, Sara Carr Pencil Scarf and Jeffrey Campbell Pencil Me In Flats.

…and here’s another little sneaky peek from the SODA Gift 2010 exhibition, a tea stained ink and pencil painting by Angela Mitchell. If you are looking for that extra special Christmas gift, pop in to Gift.

I have no words for the loveliness of Londoner Gemma Milly‘s illustration. It is pretty and girly and sweet and sassy and just perfect for a sunshine-y day like today. Enjoy.

These exquisite illustrations are the work of Martine Johanna. With a solo exhibition coming up in Amsterdam (*sigh*) and works featured in a ridiculous amount of publications, this girl has talent in bucket loads. I am very curious to know which illustrations featured in Playboy.

Due to popular demand, Madame Mitchell created a set of perfectly pretty prints like the illustrations on our Mitchell & Dent website. Inspired by high tea and spring time, they would be a welcome addition to anyone’s mantle. Doesn’t your cat drink from vintage teacups too?

Breath lessening? Eyes dilating? Warm glow spreading to your fingertips? Scribblers, doodlers and colour-inerers all, behold… Social Designer (US sellers of goods for the greater good) has a very good idea. 500 pencils, 25 pencils delivered to your door per month, 20 months. I like the look of lemon ghost, little red wagon, Hawaiian sky, Lucy, sea captain and silver sword. You?
