Mistaken identity

September 8, 2010 / By Madame Dent / Make a comment

OK. I admit it. When I first saw the name ‘A. Speer Studio’, the thought did cross my mind that Adolf Hitler’s right-hand architect Albert Speer had somehow seen the error of his Nazi ways and switched to whimsical works of stoneware instead of stone monuments to the Third Reich. Then I realised he was dead. Sorry for the mix up Adrienne.

A pretty preview

August 11, 2010 / By The Mesdames / 1 comment

My goodness, we have a lot to tittle tattle about. Mitchell & Dent have just returned from a little jetsetting jaunt over to the eastern side of the country, but before we launch into our musings about Melbourne, we want to show you something. In our absence, the too too clever Angela Higgins delivered her incredible images of the new Mitchell & Dent wedding stationery. We must also thank the lovely Fiona from Antiquitea for lending us a little of her vintage china for the shoot and you can’t top Leederville’s François for mouth-watering macaroons.

This is the letterpressed Woodland Crest suite. To take a peek visit the website, order a sample pack or request a catalogue of designs, options and pricing.

Eek

May 24, 2010 / By Madame Dent / Make a comment

Milwaukee’s Erin Paisley is quite possibly the sweetest, most self-effacing illustrator I have ever come across. Describing her work, she says “I’m terrible at planning things out”, “when I sit down to draw, I have a big eraser by my side”, “I usually don’t know what my drawings will be” and “I pretty much just belly flop into everything I do and hope for the best (I was never very good at diving either…)”. And then she makes works like these!

The small print

March 30, 2010 / By Madame Dent / 4 comments

A little bit of shameless self promotion here. Folks are getting excited about our affordable art for little nooks and light pockets. Even the lovely Earl and Jan from Poppytalk wrote a brilliant blog post on plagiarism and illustrated their case with a Copy Cat. Once sold, these limited edition letterpressed works will never be available again. Never. Ever. Not even if you ask nicely. Bunnies and ducks make a great alternative for chocolate this Easter.

Itsy bitsy animals

March 17, 2010 / By Madame Dent / Make a comment

While we’re stuck on cute here at Mitchell & Dent, can we get any cuter than these animal pillows from Pennsylvania’s Vintage Jane? Almost more exciting than the illustration is the chenille backing. Chenille, oh forgotten fabric from days of yore, how we missed you. Did you know ‘chenille’ is ‘caterpillar’ in French? Would we lie to you?

Cute fest

Mittens. Ladybirds. Jam tarts. None of these things are quite so cute as London’s Me Me Me‘s ceramics.

Fanciful fare for little folk

Lad&Lass

Let us preface this post with a Mitchell & Dent design disclaimer… in our other lives as brand boffins Studio Bomba, we are so fortunate to work with energiser bunny Clara Jane. Not only is she the mother of a one year old, but she has single-handedly established not one, but two, brand new businesses.

Lad & Lass creates artworks and interiors products as shown above, wholly designed and manufactured in Western Australia. Ball and Skittle is an online emporium that carefully sources children’s play, gift and home wares that are good for imaginations, good for growing bodies, good for the environment and good for the future happiness of the world. Good for Christmas too, I’d say.

This just in

GoodnessGraciousMe

When we’re not tittle-tattling, we’re designing. Actually, to tell the truth, we tittle-tattle while we’re designing. It is not a quiet studio at Mitchell & Dent. This just in… three rather naughty letterpress goodies – birthday cards for people who aren’t sensitive about their age. Find them in our little online store.
